A & B C Gum produced their first footballer cards in 1954. They were eventually taken over by Topps and continued to make British soccer sets annually from 1958 to 1979. In 1962, a small company in Modena, Italy started a trend. Enzo Panini produced a set of Italian league players cards. Since then, they have done so for over 30 countries and sets for every World Cup from 1970 to the present. Barratt's / Bassett's Candy supplimented their sweets with footballer cards from the 1950's into the new century. From the very rare 1958 Alfa set made in Sweden, Garrincha, known as little bird due to the crooked leg and amazing dribble.
